What a lead BMET does
A lead or senior BMET is still hands-on, but also keeps the shop running smoothly: assigning and balancing work orders, keeping preventive maintenance on schedule, serving as the first escalation point for difficult repairs, and training newer technicians. Leads often work closely with a biomedical supervisor or site manager on staffing, vendor coordination and survey readiness.
Typical qualifications
These roles usually require experience at the BMET III level or equivalent, broad equipment knowledge and a track record of helping others succeed. Certification such as the AAMI CBET is often preferred.
