What biomedical managers and supervisors do
Biomedical supervisors and site managers oversee the day-to-day operation of an HTM department or service site. They schedule and support technicians, monitor preventive maintenance completion and repair turnaround, manage parts and vendor service, respond to recalls and incidents, and prepare the program for accreditation surveys. They are also the main contact for clinical leaders about equipment issues and new technology.
Typical qualifications
These roles typically require experience as a senior BMET or lead technician, demonstrated leadership, and working knowledge of budgets, CMMS reporting and regulatory standards. A bachelor’s degree is often preferred, and certifications such as the AAMI CBET or CHTM are valued. Some employers offer manager trainee programs for promising technicians.
