What a healthcare technology manager does
A healthcare technology manager is responsible for an HTM program’s results: equipment uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, service costs and patient safety. The role combines people leadership with program management, including staffing, training, vendor and contract oversight, input on capital planning, and readiness for regulatory surveys. Many managers cover both biomedical and imaging equipment.
Typical qualifications
Employers generally look for progressive HTM experience, prior supervisory or lead responsibility, and familiarity with CMMS reporting and financial management. A bachelor’s degree is often preferred, and the AAMI CHTM credential is aimed at this role.
