What a Field Service Engineer I does
Entry-level field engineers travel to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance, repairs and installations, supported by senior engineers and manufacturer technical support. Some roles cover general biomedical equipment for several facilities; others focus on a single product line or modality, such as X-ray, CT/MR or women’s health systems. Clear service documentation and good customer communication are part of every visit.
Typical qualifications
Employers usually look for an associate degree or military training in electronics or biomedical equipment, hands-on troubleshooting experience, a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Many roles provide a company vehicle and manufacturer training.
